Tardigrades also known as 'water bears' are species that hold capacity to outlive us all and have been named as world's most indestructible creatures.

These eight legged microscopic invertebrates are the most resilient form of life on Earth, able to survive for up to 30 years without food or water, shrug off temperatures of minus 272 Celsius just one degree warmer than absolute zero, the deep sea and even the frozen vacuum of space.

Experts say that tardigrades lineage began from 520 million to 100 million yeras ago.

According to a report published in the journal Scientific Reports, these tardigrades are strong enough to toss three of the most devastating cosmic events at Earth: killer asteroids, supernovae and gamma-ray bursts.

The finding is reassuring for the scientists concerned about the future of life on this planet.
