Walking robot invented: DURUS, the robot walks on treadmill like a human

The bipedal robot with a heel-toe motion copies human locomotion more closely than flat-footed robot walkers can. This humanoid robot DURUS was jointly designed by research nonprofit SRI International and Georgia Tech's Advanced Mechanical Bipedal Experimental Robotics (AMBER) Lab.

Walking robot invented: DURUS, the robot walks on treadmill like a human

DURUS- the new robot can exactly walk like humans

Making the best possible use of technology, scientists have developed a new robot with humanly abilities that makes it easier for DURUS to navigate the uneven terrain. The humanoid robot was DURUS closely imitates the walking motion of humans which makes it more energy-efficient.

This time the researchers have tried to design a new algorithm that works to keep a robot upright and moving forward even if only parts of the foot are engaged.

For easier walking DURUS’feet have been kept the same size as human feet. It is noteworthy that this new algorithm can also be used to improve the design of prosthetics and exoskeletons.
