New Delhi:

Tearing into the Aam Aadmi Party for its alliance talk during the Lok Sabha Elections, BJP’s Parvesh Verma said that it shows how low can Arvind Kejriwal-led party stoop. Talking to News Nation’s Deepak Chaurasia during the Session 3 of the prestigious Hamari Sansad Sammelan, Verma said that Delhi will give befitting reply to the AAP. When quizzed over his father Sahib Singh Verma’s political legacy, the West Delhi lawmaker said that, “I have struggled a lot to reach where I am now. I won from the constituency from where BJP always lost. This is the result of my struggle.”

Verma created new record for largest victory margin in Delhi. He had won a second term by a huge margin of 5,78,486 votes defeating Congress's Mahabal Mishra, who was elected as an MP from the seat in 2009. Verma not only broke his own record but also became the candidate who registered the highest victory margin in Delhi.

In 2014, Parvesh Singh had trounced his closest rival, Jarnail Singh of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), by a margin of 2,68,586 votes. This time, he got 8,65,648 of the total 1,44,1601 votes polled in the seat. The son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, in his rallies, urged people to vote for him because of his father's legacy and for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tough stand against terrorism.

Recently, Verma hit headlines after he wrote a letter to the Lt Governor on June 17 regarding 'mushrooming' of mosques on vacant government land, roads and secluded places and requested him to conduct a survey. In a letter to Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik, the parliamentarian said he received threat on Twitter and urged him to look into it. When quizzed over his letter, Verma told News Nation that he was just stating the fact.

The other speaker is also no stranger to poll records. Ashok Kumar Yadav achieved a crushing victory with over 4.54 lakh votes by defeating rival Badri Kumar Purbey of the Vikassheel Insaan Party. He also gained a vote share of 61.83% votes. Held by his father Hukumdeo Narayan Yadav, Ashok Yadav contested the 2019 polls as BJP candidate Madhubani went to polls in the fifth phase of general elections on May 6.
