Real Madrid forward and Wales international Gareth Bale has given a new selection headache for manager Zinedine Zidane with a stunning brace in his side’s 6-0 rout against Celta Vigo on Saturday.
Bale fired his side into the lead with an scorching low finish following a through ball from Luka Modric.
His second of the night for the Welsh came, when he knocked the ball through the legs of Celta Vigo’s Jonny Castro and with his next touch, he fired the ball inside the net. The brace delighted the Bernabeu hard-to-please crowd and the former Tottenham forward was given a standing ovation when he was substituted late in the match.
"He played very well today and I'm very happy for him, but the important thing is that everyone is in great form heading to the final," Real coach Zinedine Zidane told the media.
Zidane has started Bale in only one of their six knockout games in their run to Champions League final. But with six goals and an assist in his last five La Liga starts, including a stunning equaliser against arch-rival Barcelona, the 28-year-old Welsh has made a bid to return to the starting line-up in the UCL final in Kiev on May 26.
"It's better like this, to have everyone firing on all cylinders," added Zidane. "Of course now deciding a starting 11 for the final is going to give me a real headache."
Bale’s biggest fight in the starting line-up against Jurgen Klopp’s side is Spaniard Isco, who is also in marvellous form and has also recovered from a shoulder injury, and wingers Marco Asensio and Lucas Vasquez
