Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal won the hearts during the opening fixture of Asia Cup 2018 against Sri Lanka as he got injured during the initial overs, visited a hospital, returned back with fractured wrist and batted again – with one hand – his Braveheart act received all the support from the crowd in the stadium as well as fans watching from across the world.

Tamim was actually told by the doctors that his Asia Cup campaign was over due to the fractured wrist. But he hung on with the brilliant Mushfiqur Rahim for the last wicket as they both added 32 runs and helped Bangladesh end on 261.

“There was a lot of pressure, losing lost two wickets early and Tamim couldn't bat. But decision to bat (again) was made by him. If he didn't want to bat, no one could push him. Credit goes to him for the decision,' Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza said after the game on Saturday.

Fans took to micro-blogging platform Twitter and applauded Tamim’s heroic act as Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by a massive 137-run margin in the Asia Cup 2018 opener.
