The Indian women hockey team's dream of reclaiming the gold at the Asian Games after 36 years remained unfulfilled as it lost 1-2 to Japan to settle for the silver medal on a penultimate day (Day 13) at the ongoing 2018 Asian Games.

Earlier, Day 12 witnessed India adding more medals to their medal tally as Jinson Johnson won the men's 1500m gold while the quartet of Hima Das, V Vismaya, Saritaben Gayakwad and M Poovamma bagged the shiny gold in women's 4x400 metre relay.
