India surpassed their best-ever Asian Games medals tally after Amit Panghal clinched the gold medal in Men’s Light Fly 49kg boxing event by defeating Uzbekistan’s Hasanboy Dusmatov. While Bridge duo Pranab Bardhan and Shibnath Sarkar also bagged the gold in men’s Bridge pair event. India now stands proud with 67 medals (15 gold, 23 silver and 29 bronze).

Amit Panghal on Saturday defeated Olympic and Asian champion Hasanboy Dusmatov of Uzbekistan with a remarkable tactical brilliance and became only the eight Indian boxer to bag a gold at the Asiad.
The 22-year-old pugilist came over his nemesis Dusmatov, who had beaten him in a close margin match in 2017’s World Championships.

The army-man, who was making his Asian Games debut was perfect with his tactical moves against the legendary Dusmatov, who is an icon in international boxing, extracted sweet revenge for his defeat in Hamburg.
India also clinched a gold in the men’s pair event of Bridge as Pranab Bardhan and Shibhnath Sarkar bagged the spot at the top podium on Saturday.
The 60-year-old Pranab and his partner 56-year-old Shibhnath notched a score of 384 points as they ended up at the top spot.
