India stole the limelight on Day 9 events of the 2018 Asian Games as Neeraj Chopra, the 20-year-old Haryana lad harvested another record-smashing gold in the javelin throw to continue India's impressive show at multi-event meets. To add glory to the occasion, India's track and field athletes delivered a clutch of medals on the day 9 of Asiad. While Sudha Singh grabbed a silver medal in the women's 3,000 metres steeplechase, Dharun Ayyasamy and Neena Varakil bagged another couple of silver in the men's 400 metres hurdles and women's long jump respectively. Talking about Indian shuttlers, Saina Nehwal settled for bronze in the women’s singles semifinals while PV Sindhu advanced to a historic final on a glorious day for India. Interestingly, Sindhu is the first shuttler to make it to the Asian Games badminton singles final.
With this India's overall medal count has been propelled to 41, including 8 gold, 13 silver and 20 bronze. Meanwhile, day 10 also has a series of exciting matches lined up and the fans are definitely in for a treat as Indian athletes aim to push the prestigious medal tally up at the Jakarta Palembang 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.
