Saurabh Chaudhary on Tuesday became the fifth Indian shooter to claim a gold in the Asian Games history, defeating Olympic champions in the 10m air pistol finals. Chaudhary, competing in his first senior event, defeated 2010 World Champion Tomoyuki Matsuda on the penultimate shot in the 24-shot final.

Here are five interesting facts about Saurabh Chaudhary:

1. Saurabh Chaudhary comes from Kalina village of Mumbai. Saurabh’s father is a farmer by profession. 

2. Saurabh Chaudhary learned his tricks from Amit Sheoran’s academy near Meerut.

3. Saurabh took up shooting three years ago. Asian Games 2018 was his debut event as a senior athlete. 

4. Saurabh won the gold medal at the ISSF Junior World Cup while setting a new Junior World record.
