CWG 2018: Medals continue to flow for India as they stand 3rd in rankings

Jitu Rai’s pistol won India a gold medal by smashing Games record, whereas Indian weightlifters continue their stunning run as Pardeep Singh won a silver in 105kg men’s category. Men’s table tennis and mixed team in Badminton event also wrote their name in history by bagging gold medals.

Jitu Rai’s pistol won India a gold medal by smashing Games record, whereas Indian weightlifters continue their stunning run as Pardeep Singh won a silver in 105kg men’s category. Men’s table tennis and mixed team in Badminton event also wrote their name in history by bagging gold medals.

Jitu Rai won the gold in the 10m air pistol event and scored 235.1, shattering Games record. Whereas Mehuli Ghosh grabbed a silver medal in the 10m air rifle event. The 17-year-old finished ahead of teammate Apurvi Chandela but missed out on a gold behind Martina Veloso.

In the mixed badminton event, India defeated defending champions Malaysia and the paddlers hunt down Nigeria to grab gold medals.

Pardeep Singh settled down with a silver medal after losing out to Samoa’s Sanele Mao. The 23-year-old went for a Games record in the final attempt but failed to pull it off. He attempted 211kg lift in clean and jerk.

In the 400m women’s event, Hima Das sailed to the semi-finals after finishing third in the heat. Meanwhile in the boxing event, Manish Kaushik and Gaurav Solanki advanced to the quarters in their respective categories.

India are now with 10 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medal, behind leaders Australia and England.
