The Pakistan Cup One Day tournament match involving the Federal Areas and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was marred by a bizarre incident involving Ahmed Shehzad. The 27-year-old, playing for Federal Areas hammered 56 and helped them reach 269 all out. In response, Mohammad Saad, Adil Amin and Khushdil Shah put Khyber on course for a win. However, when Khyber was nearing a win, the match witnessed a bizarre moment involving Shehzad and this did not impress social media users one bit. The incident took place when Khyber needed just three runs to win. Khushdil, batting on 39, slogged to deep midwicket where Shehzad was fielding.
The ball went straight to Shehzad who dropped a regulation catch and then picked the ball up from the ground. Bizarrely, he made a TV signal and called for the Decision Review System. The incident left many people fuming on social media and although Khyber won the match by three wickets with two balls to spare, the incident did not impress many people on social media.

Oh lord, he did something similar against Sri Lanka. He must be related to Umar Akmal, both of them don't have a brain between them.

Remember when he dropped a catch and acted like he caught it in his armpit.

Many social media users pointed out that this was not the first time that Shehzad had done such a thing. During an ODI between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Colombo in 2015, Lahiru Thirimanne had slog swept Yasir Shah to long leg where Shehzad spilled the catch but yet he claimed it. The replays showed that Shehzad had spilled the chance and he grabbed it on his armpit after it clearly touched the ground.
Senior players Wahab Riaz, Umar Akmal and Shehzad have not been summoned by the Inzamam ul Haq led selection committee for the final fitness tests being conducted ahead of World Cup squad selection. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday, released a list of 23 probables, who have been invited for the two-day fitness tests scheduled on April 15 and 16th at the National Cricket Academy after consultations between chief selector, Inzamam-ul-Haq and head coach Mickey Arthur. Umar who followed up a brilliant 136 with another blistering innings of 99 in the Pakistan National One-day Cup on Thursday, has surprisingly not been invited to take the fitness tests. The middle-order batsman was recalled for the ODI series against Australia last month after being left out in the cold for more than two and a half years. His top score against Australia was 48 and was also earned the wrath of the board for partying beyond midnight thereby breaching the code of conduct.
The PCB also confirmed that the final World Cup squad would be announced on 18th April with the Pakistan team departing on 23rd for England.
