New Delhi:

Akila Dananjaya, considered to be Sri Lanka’s mystery bowler, has been reported for a suspect action in the Galle Test against England which the hosts lost by 211 runs.

A statement tweeted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) read Dananjaya has been reported with a suspect bowling action and is required to undergo testing within 14 days. During this period, he is permitted to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the testing are known.

The Galle Test saw England register their first-ever win at the venue and it also marked the farewell of Sri Lanka’s ace left-arm spinner Rangana Herath. The 40-year-old took 100 wickets at the venue and ended his career with 433 wickets.

Dananjaya’s suspect action piles on the misery for Sri Lanka, who will be without Dinesh Chandimal. The Sri Lanka suffered a groin strain and will be out of action for two weeks, putting him in doubt for the third Test in Colombo as well. In absence of Chandimal, Suranga Lakmal will captain the side.
