West Indian international Andre Russell played an outrageous game in perhaps the greatest T20 performance to lead his team Jamaica Tallawahs to a brilliant victory against Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League.
Russell who was captaining for the first time, started the match with an outstanding catch to remove his Kolkata Knight Riders team mate Chris Lynn and then later took a game-changing hat-trick. The flamboyant all-rounder then went on to score a stunning century off just 40 balls to chase down the target of 224 runs.
The KKR all-rounder produced an unbeaten knock of 121 off 49 balls – a CPL record – in what was the tournament’s highest individual score and fastest century.
His bowling performance included the wickets of Brendon McCullum, Darren Bravo and Dinesh Ramdin.
Russell becomes the second player to score a ton and take a hat-trick in a T20 game after Kent’s Joe Denly became the first player ever to do so just a month ago in England’s T20 competition.
