Veteran speedster Ashish Nehra has said that deciding on his retirement was not an easy task and the decision was not taken overnight.

“I was waiting for the right time. I can say Indian cricket is in safe hands,” said Nehra.

Talking about MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli he said, “Both are completely different personalities. MS Dhoni is more of a cool and calm person, Kohli is full of energy and aggressive. MS has done wonderfully well, he gave the captaincy to Virat at the right time.”

Nehra had announced that he would be retiring from international cricket after the first Twenty20 match against New Zealand at his home ground, Feroz Shah Kotla, which was held on November 1.

Nehra made his India debut back in 1999 under Mohammed Azharuddin. His 6 for 23 against England in the 2003 ICC World Cup was one of the finest spells of fast bowling in ODIs.

He produced a magical spell of fast bowling to help India win the final of the Asia Cup against Sri Lanka in 2010. Nehra picked up 4 for 40 against the Lankans at Dambullah to give India their first Asia Cup title since 1995.
