New Delhi:

The Caribbean Premier League 2019 is now in the play-off stages and the action has shifted to the new Brian Lars stadium in Tarouba. The second qualifier and the final are being held at the stadium but heavy rain in Trinidad and Tobago had put this clash in doubt. However, the rains relented and the groundstaff managed to get the ground ready just in time. However, there was a major problem. The heavy rains in Tarouba had resulted in floods in the entire city.

This posed a major problem for the Barbados Tridents team. They were caught up in heavy traffic jams and had not yet come to the venue. With the match delayed due to the heavy outfield, play was supposed to start 45 minutes later with no reduction in overs. However, the Barbados Tridents team arrived just 30 minutes prior to the toss and they somehow managed to make it out on the ground.

Trinbago Knight Riders chose to bowl but Barbados Tridents were boosted by some sloppy fielding from the Knight Riders and they put down a couple of chances. Raymond Reifer and Ashley Nurse blasted 42 runs in the final two overs and it made a big difference. In response, Seekkuge Prasanna smashed 51 but when he fell, Trinbago Knight Riders lost by 12 runs to crash out of the tournament.

Speaking after the match, Trinbago Knight Riders skipper said they deserved to lose the match. "Can't control the weather, you can't use that as an excuse. Congratulations to the Tridents. We deserved to lose a game like this. Can't drop catches and not executing in a game like this sort of tells the kind of season we have had. At that time me getting run out is crucial, we don't want to use that as an excuse," Pollard said.

The final of the Caribbean Premier League 2019 will be played between Barbados Tridents and Guyana Amazon Warriors. Barbados Tridents have a big task in their hands, with the Guyana Amazon Warriors unbeaten in this edition of the tournament so far. A win for Guyana Amazon Warriors will put them in an elite list of teams who have won a franchise T20 League without losing a game.
