BCCI's Cricket Advisory Council (CAC) defered the announcement of Indian team coach's name post holding selection interviews for the coveted post on Monday. CAC member Saurav Ganguly while addresing the media said that the three member panel had decided to hold back announcing the coach's name until further discussions were held with skipper Virat Kohli on the same. The CAC members comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman conducted interviews for six of the short listed candidates for the coveted post.

Ten candidates had been initially shortlisted by the CAC out of which six were interviewed on Monday. Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag, Lalchand Rajput, Richard Pybus, Phil Simmons and Tom Moody were the selected ones to be interviewed.

The CAC member Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman conducted interview for the vacant Indian coach post. Ravi Shastri was Indian cricket’s team director from their tour of England in 2014 to the 2016 World T20.

Former head coach Anil Kumble stepped down as coach of Indian cricket team on June 20. The announcement emerged just one day after it was reported that skipper Virat Kohli was displeased with Kumble and had conveyed “strong reservations” over the iconic leg-spinner continuing as the coach to the CAC appointed by the BCCI.
