A very good World Cup performance have earned India’s women cricketers wide appreciations from all the quarters and now they shall also get a big cash bonanza ahead of Diwali.
If all goes well and a proposal by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry at the board’s Financial Committee meeting on Friday gets go ahead, the eves will get a major cash boost.
According to reports, Anirudh Chaudhry has proposed a pay hike for women players who feature in first-class matches from current Rs 3,500/day to Rs 12,500/day.
The daily first-class match fee for men is also set to increase from Rs 10,000/day to Rs 25,000/day.
The world’s richest cricket board is also mulling to make few structural changes in the revenue sharing model and the money for Grade A and Grade B could also see a more than 350 per cent hike.
It is learnt that the new model shall bring more money for women players and the Grade A players are set to get a whopping Rs 50 lakh/year, now it is only 15 lakh/year.
The Grade B players will also get Rs 30 lakh/year, a big 300 per cent hike from their earlier Rs 10 lakh/year.
So far, there are only two type of Grade contracts exist for women cricketers. But now BCCI is also planning to introduce a new Grade C contract for women players. The Grade C players will get Rs 15 lakh/year.
Extra incentives for Test stars who go unsold in IPL:
Also, the board is also aiming to address the imbalance and created by Indian Premier League (IPL) where test specialists Grade A players go unsold while uncapped T-20 specialists get crores.
The board is planning to give Rs 2 crore to Grade A players like Cheteshwar Pujara who goes unsold in IPL auction. The unsold Grade B test specialists will also get Rs 1 crore.
The board is also planning to put a cap on the IPL fee for uncapped Indian and Foreign players, the money more than the prescribed limit will go to the Test Players Fund.
