New Delhi:

Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir’s media manager on Friday confirmed that the cricketer is going to bear all the expenses of the children of 25 CRPF personnel killed in Sukma attack.

Earlier on Wednesday, Gautam Gambhir paid tributes to the CRPF personnel who were killed in Monday’s Maoist ambush in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. Gambhir took to Twitter to express his grief over the incident saying: "25 CRPF men sacrificed lives for d country. Sometimes I wonder if we deserve their sacrifice!!!"

"As we crib over lack of air conditioning or size of our already mammoth SUV, let's ponder over d future of d daughters of CRPF martyrs." Gambhir said in another Tweet.

The nearly 100-strong CRPF patrol providing security for road construction work came under fierce gunfire from the guerrillas occupying vantage positions in Kalapathar area of south Bastar region, one of the worst-hit by Left-wing extremism in the country.

This is not the first time when the mercurial cricketer has shown support for the security forces taking on the insurgent in troubled regions.

Just two weeks ago, Gambhir along with Virender Sehwag came out in support of CRPF jawans who were attacked by stone pelters in Srinagar during elections in the Kashmir Valley.
