During the Melbourne Twenty20 International, conditions were bitterly cold and windy. At the toss, Virat Kohli was given a suggestion by Shane Warne to stay warm. One Indian player took it so seriously that he decided to go the extra mile to stay warm. When Marcus Stoinis sliced a full ball to deep backward point, Dinesh Karthik ran to his left to take the catch. However, the 60000-crowd at the G noticed something unique. Karthik took the catch while wearing a monkey cap over his head. Karthik, who hails from Chennai in Tamil Nadu, does not experience cold conditions and the weather in Melbourne was something different.

1.)    Colin Miller – The first rainbow hairstylist

Be it Blue, Pink, rainbow style or orange colour, Australian offspinner Colin Miller was known for his outlandish hair colours and style. In one instance, during the 2000 Sydney Test against West Indies, Miller’s blue hair was so distracting that Courtney Walsh, who was on strike, could not stop himself from laughing. Miller’s colourful persona came at a time when Australian cricket was dominant on the world stage.

2.)    Hamish Marshall Beige suit and hairstyle

In 2005, the first Twenty20 International was played between Australia and New Zealand. At that time, Twenty20 Internationals was not so big and it was not considered serious. New Zealand went one step further and donned the retro look of the 80s. Replica beige and brown 1980s uniforms, facial hair and terry towelling hats all added to the extravaganza. Hamish Marshall, the New Zealand player, sported the gravity-defying afro hairstyle, which proved to be a major sensation.

3.)    The ‘Fauxhawk’ – not a Faux Pas

You have heard of the Mohawk? But, what is the FauxHawk?  This new hairstyle came into existence when Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan unveiled the look before the 2015 World Cup. The Fauxhawk hairstyle was a full head of hair combed into the middle to fabricate the look of a Mohawk.

4.)    Sunil Narine – Mohawk style X

When Sunil Narine entered the international arena, he was less known for his bowling variations. Rather, he was known as the West Indies cricketer who had the perfectly shaped Mohawk. Such was his style that cricketers like Andre Russell decided to copy his style. Russell, in fact, added a new dimension to his Mohawk by colouring it Orange.

5.)    Mitchell Johnson – Tormentor turns Pink

The Sydney Test in Australia is dubbed as the ‘Pink Test’. The match is played to create awareness about breast cancer and it gets massive support in Australia, with fans, former players and cricketing kits coloured in pink. With 31 wickets in four Tests, Johnson was in top form and had decimated England in the 2013/14 Ashes. Before the match, he had sported a pink moustache to create awareness. The pink handlebar moustache was a rage but Johnson coloured his Mo black during the game.
