New Delhi:

England seamer and highest wicket-taker James Anderson has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for breaching the Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during day 2 of the ongoing fifth Test match between England and India at the Oval.

Jimmy Anderson have breached Article 2.1.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. The Article 2.1.5 relates to “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an International Match”.

The incident happened during the 29th over after umpire Kumar Dharmasena ruled out an LBW appeal on Virat Kohli. The review taken by England was also ruled out even though the ball was hitting the stumps. Anderson confronted umpire Dharmasena in an aggressive way after the unsuccessful appeal.

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old have admitted and accepted the offense and the sanction.

In addition to the 15 per cent fine, one demerit point has also been added to the disciplinary record of Anderson.

This is the first offense by Anderson since the introduction of the revised Code of Conduct in September 2016.
