Farokh Engineer, the former India cricket team wicketkeeper, has apologised to Anushka Sharma for his recent comments in which he dragged her name into an issue where he was criticising the Indian team selectors. Speaking in The Republic, Engineer apologised to Anushka and said his comments were miscontructed. "I just said it in a jest and it's being made a mountain out of a molehill. Poor Anushka has been dragged into it, she is a lovely girl. Virat Kohli is a brilliant captain and coach Ravi Shastri is extremely good. The entire matter is being blown up unnecessarily. It turned out to be a selector as he was wearing an all India blazer," Engineer said.
Engineer, recently slammed the current BCCI selectors questioning their credentials and stature as selectors. "All they were doing was getting Anushka Sharma (Kohli’s wife) cups of tea. I feel people with the stature of Dilip Vengsarkar should be in the selection committee," said Engineer in his interview. Anushka, finally gave a befitting reply via her social media accounts in an open letter calling the entire incident 'false and fabricated' the actress mentioned that her silence which had earlier made 'lies spitted against' her true 'ends today'.

Addressing all the criticism she has faced so far from standing in a group photo to BCCI sponsoring her trip to the matches she attended and now the recent claim made by Engineer that she was being served tea by the selectors that she thinks was done to 'sensationalise his opinion', Anushka taking a stern stand for her herself said that she 'refuses to allow anyone from using her name in such conversations.

Calling the entire instance, 'Regressive, horrible and malicious and vicious' Anushka added that her silence should not be considered her 'weakness' anymore. In the end, asking 'detractors' to come up with 'facts and the proof's the next time they want to discredit someone, the board of her husband Virat Kohli, she concluded the letter saying that she has built her career with utmost dignity and is not going to let anyone compromise that for anything.
