Sri Lankan batsman and opener Danushka Gunathilaka has been suspended from all forms of international cricket by Sri Lank Cricket (SLC) pending an enquiry.

The development came into light at the end of the third day’s play in the final Test match between South Africa and Sri Lanka in Colombo.

"The decision to suspend the player was taken following an initial inquiry conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket, after the team management reported that the player had violated the ‘Code of Conduct," said an SLC statement, without offering much details.

Gunathilaka’s suspension comes into effect right after the ongoing match against South Africa at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground.

Earlier in January, the Pandura born opener was reprimanded for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the T-20 tri-series against Bangladesh.
He was later suspended for six ODI matches after displaying poor attitude in training ground.

In the ongoing Test match against South Africa, Gunathilaka has showed brilliant form with his knocks of 57 and 61 runs.
