April 24 is a red-letter day for a billion Indian and world cricket fans. It is the day when God had a date. It is the day when Sachin Tendulkar was born. The Master Blaster, who has amassed records which might never be broken, is considered one of the greatest players to have ever set foot on a cricket field. Tendulkar’s exploits and his persona transcended age groups, cultures, languages and made a diverse country united as one. Today, as Tendulkar turned 46, fans took to social media to celebrate the genius of Tendulkar. #GodofCricket, #HappyBirthdaySachin and #SachinTendulkar became the top trends on Twitter.

In the final league game, Tendulkar blasted 143 and ensured India reached the final against Australia. In the final, Tendulkar once again hammered 134 as India won the title. Those two knocks cemented Tendulkar’s brilliance and established him as a once-in-a-lifetime cricketer.
