England clinched a sensational 87-run victory over New Zealand and earned a Champions Trophy semi-final berth.Jos Buttler, Alex Hales and Joe Root batted with precision to take the England score to a mammoth 310 runs.
They were well supported by premier all-rounder Ben Stokes who scored crucial 48 runs and along with Buttler, added the late flourish to the England innings.
The England bowlers later on bowled with fire to restrict the New Zealand batting line up to 223 runs. Liam Plunkett bowled emerged as the leader of the pack as he gobbled up four wickets and broke the back of the Kiwis batting order.

Jake Ball and Adil Rashid picked up two wickets apiece as Kane Williamson was the only Kiwi batsman to offer some resistance. He struck up a good partnership with Ross Taylor and scored 87 crucial runs. Jake Ball also earned the 'Man of the Match' for his exploits with the ball.

Mark Wood broke the partnership as he had Williamson caught by Buttler. Taylor followed soon after and the rest of the batsmen crumbled under increasing net run rate and impeccable line bowled by the English bowlers.
