ICC Champions Trophy semifinal | India vs B'desh: India script 9 wicket victory over Bangladesh, set up final clash with arch-rivals Pakistan

ICC Champions Trophy | India vs Bangladesh

India played brilliantly as they defeated Bangladesh by 9 wickets and set up a high-voltage final clash with arch-rivals Pakistan. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli played majestic innings to secure a grand victory over the Bangla tigers.

India had a majestic start to their Champions Trophy semi-final when they picked up two early Bangladesh wickets. However, Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal fought back to wrest the initiative in the middle overs and it seemed that Bangladesh was cruising towards a big score.

The Indian spinners however, had other ideas. After Hardik Pandya proved expensive and Ashwin failed to get a breakthrough, the captain turned towards Kedar Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja. Both of them delivered when it mattered and shared three wickets between them.

The fast bowlers did the rest of the job and bowled probing death spells apart from claiming four wickets. Whereas Bhuvneshwar was responsible for the early strikes, Bumrah took 2 late wickets to restrict the Bangladesh score to 264 runs off their allotted 50 overs. India now need 265 runs for victory and a clash in the semi-final with arch-rivals Pakistan.

Going by current form and the quality of players at its disposal, India started as overwhelming favourites against their South Asian neighbours but one can't rule out Bangladesh who have a reputation of being giant killers at major ICC tournaments. The 'Men in Blue' would not be one bit complacent as they are very well aware of what Bangladesh did to them in the 2007 ICC World Cup.
