Ravichandran Ashwin won the Cricketer of the Year and the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year 2016 by the International Cricket Council on Thursday.
He is now the third Indian cricketer to win the Sir Garfield Sobers trophy after Rahul Dravid (2004) and Sachin Tendulkar.
England’s Alastair Cook has been named as captain of the ICC Test Team of the Year, which includes four Englishmen, three Australians, and a player each from New Zealand, India, Sri Lanka and South Africa.
Virat Kohli has been named as captain of the ICC ODI Team of the Year, which includes three Australians, Indians, South Africans each, and one each from England and West Indies.
The awards will be given to the cricketers based on their performances in the 12 months period between 14 September 2015 and 20 September 2016.

Suzie Bates sweeped away the ICC Women's ODI and T20 Cricketer of the Year award. ICC also announced Women's team of the year for the first team.
