ICC Women's World Cup 2017, IND v SL LIVE: India win toss, choose to bat first

India defeated Sri Lanka by 16 runs in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup. Deepti Sharma was adjudged the player of the match as she gave an outstanding all-round performance to help India register their 4th consecutive victory and sail into the semi-finals of the tournament. Sri Lanka could score only 216 runs in their 50 overs for the loss of 7 wickets in response to India's 232 runs for 8 wickets.

Indian Innings Report

Indian skipper Mithali Raj won the toss and had no hesitance in electing to bat on what seemed to be a good batting track at Derby. However, the Lankan seamers had other ideas as they struck early to remove the Indian openers cheaply. India was reeling at before Deepti Sharma and skipper Mithali Raj stitched together a resilient 118-run partnership to get India's innings back on track.

The Indian innings never got a momentum as the Lankan bowlers bowled a tight line all through the Indian innings. Veda Krishnamurthy and Sushma Verma gave the innings some impetus towards the end to help India finish with a below par 232 total. Sripali Weerakkody was the pick of the Lankan pacers picking up three wickets. Meanwhile, Inoka Ranaweera ended up with two wickets.
