Imad Wasim, the Pakistan left-arm spinner, made a wonderful comeback into the national side by taking 3/20 in the first Twenty20 International against Australia in Abu Dhabi. His haul not only helped Pakistan thrash Australia by 66 runs, it helped him win the Man of the Match award.
However, it was Wasim’s wicket celebrations that took the Internet by storm. After he took the wicket, he copied star footballer Ronaldo’s celebration. When Ronaldo scores a goal, he would run a bit, leap back and raise both his arms and then fling it spread-eagle like.

This was not the first time that the left-arm spinner had copied Ronaldo’s celebrations. In the T10 league earlier in the year, playing for Maratha Arabians, started off the celebrations when he bowled Dwayne Smith and Ahmed Shehzad who represented Pakhtoons.
Following the comparison, a Pakistani journalist Saj Sadiq took to Twitter and named the bowler as Imad ‘Ronaldo’ Wasim.

Wasim was the No.1 Twenty20 bowler in 2017 but inconsistency resulted in his axing from the squad. In 30 ODIs, he has scored 430 runs at an average of 35 and has taken 28 wickets with one five-wicket haul. In 26 Twenty20 Internationals, he has taken with 30 wickets with one five-wicket haul. Incidentally, at the start of his career, Wasim had chosen to pursue a career in medicine but he got the chance to play for Pakistan in the U-19 squad.
The second match of the series between Pakistan and Australia takes place on Friday in Dubai.
