The Indian cricket team is on a high after winning the Test series against England 3-0. India is currently the top ranked Test team due to fabulous performances in the last five Test series and would like to continue its unbeaten streak to the Chennai Test also.

The team, under skipper Virat Kohli has registered victories in home series against England, New Zealand along with earning glories on both West Indies and Sri Lankan tours.

If India win or draw the Chennai Test, it will be their 18th consecutive straight Test without a loss.

Virat Kohli, record breaking captain

It will be India's longest unbeaten streak and a tribute to the team's unwavering consistency. Virat Kohli, the swashbuckling Indian skipper, needs 93 more runs to set an Indian record of most runs in a series by a captain.

The great Sunil Gavaskar, 732 runs vs West Indies in the 1978-79 series is ahead of Virat Kohli.

Kohli will also get a shot at Gavaskar's record of 774 runs (vs West Indies, 1970-71), the most by an Indian in a series.

Ravichandran Ashwin, mercurial all rounder

Ravichandran Ashwin needs 3 more scalps to become the fastest bowler ever to reach 250 wickets. If Ashwin manages to reach the milestone in the Chennai test, he will be doing so in 44 tests.

If Ashwin captures 5 wickets in the match, he would break former captain and all rounder Kapil Dev's record (75 wickets in 1983) for most wickets in a calendar year.
