New Delhi:

Legendary bowler and Indian veteran Jhulan Goswami on Thursday announced her retirement from T20 Internationals. Team India, who are scheduled to play the ICC Women’s World T20 2018 in November in West Indies, will be without the experience and grit of Goswami.

Goswami, who is already the one with most wickets in the One-day Internationals, is the sole player to scalp 200 wickets in the 50 overs format and is the only one with a five-wicket haul in all three formats of the game.

The 35-year-old, who has donned the Indian colours, has played 68 T20Is, including India’s first match in 2006 and since then Goswami has taken 56 wickets in the shortest format of the game.

In the upcoming Women’s World T20 2018, India will have a new new-ball duo, where they are drawn against strong sides of Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand and Ireland.

This will be the first time since the inauguration of ICC Women’s global event since 2001, where Goswami will not be a part of the squad.

However, the veteran pacer will continue to play ODIs for India, as per the release by the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI).

She “thanked the BCCI and her teammates for all the love and support she garnered during her stint with the T20I team and wished them luck going forward”, the release said.
