The Indian skipper was rendered good support by middle order lynch pin Cheteshwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma, both of whom scored centuries. Indian seamers Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav struck early to make inroads into the Sri Lakan top order in their second innings.

The spinners then came into their own by ripping through the Lankan middle order. The spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin were at their lethal best making most of the turning track at Nagpur.

With this commanding win, India continued with their phenomenal run in Test cricket at home under the captaincy of Virat Kohli.India have been unbeaten at home since November 2016.
