New Delhi:

India vs Australia 2nd Test, Day 5 Live score and updates: India need 175 runs to win the second Test against Australia with just five wickets in hand. Hanuman Vihari and Rishabh Pant is the last batting pair as after that it will be tailenders that will have to hold guard against furious Australian bowling attack. The consistent display by the Australian bowlers, combined with yet another display of grit by the Australian tail has given Tim Paine’s side the opportunity to register a famous win and level the series 1-1.

India vs Australia 2nd Test, Day 5 Scorecard and Updates:

#9:00 am: The visitors could only play 15 overs and scored just 28 runs. They lost five wickets. On the other hand for hosts, the last five wickets had added 71 runs in their second innings. It tells the difference between the Indian lower order and the Australian. Kohli made few mistakes apart from being rude to the Australians. The team selection was one of them. He misjudged the pitch, deceived by green grass and went with four full-time pacers. But the wickets had a lot for spinners and not playing Jadeja was one of many mistakes. At least five top and middle-order batsmen got the start but they could not capitalise their innings and thing went south for the hosts. The series has got interesting and next up is the boxing day Test starting December 26.

#8:56 am: OUT! Australia win by 146 runs and level the series 1-1. Pat Cummins removes Bumrah and Ishant in a span of just four bowls. Paine would be the happy man.

#8:53 am: OUT! The finger goes up in the air as Paine catches Ishant behind the wickets. Indian tail needs to learn a lesson from the Australian. The hosts need just one wicket to win this match. Jaspreet Bumrah is the last man in.

#8:48 am: OUT! wicket number eight bite the dust. Umesh Yadav this time. He tried to fend off the bumper from Starc but ended up spooning it back to the bowler. Australia just two wickets away from the series leveler victory.

#8:44 am: Ishant Sharma is the new man in. India need 150 runs to win with just three wickets in hand. Australia, on the other hand, is now looking to wrap things up as early as possible

#8:40 am: OUT! Rishabh Pant's bravado comes to an end as Handscomb take a stunner. Pant was trying to go over the long on but failed to connect it well. The ball managed an inside edge to the left of mid-wicket where Handscomb leapt away towards his left to take that low, dipping away catch.

#8:20 am: FOUR! A boundary from Rishabh Pant. Starc would not mind this but it was slashed hard by Pant over the cordon for four.

#8:15 am: It's interesting that India has sent Umesh Yadav to bat and not Mohammed Shami who can bat a little. Clearly, the visitors want to take it as deep as possible and if they can do what Australian tailenders did, things can go south for the hosts. India need 168 runs to win with only four wickets in hand.

#8:12 am: OUT!! Starc removes Hanuma Vihari. And India's hope to do some magic goes with this. Inside edge went straight to the men at square leg. Starc got the better of Hanuma Vihari's resistance.

#8:00 am: Experts say: Harsha Bhogle feels India has nothing much left in this game.

#7:50 am: Action begins. Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant are on the crease. Can they survive the first session? Live action starts now.

#7:30 am: Hello and welcome to News Nation live updates on day 5 of the Perth Test between India and Australia.
