India will need just one more wicket to win the third Test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham as hosts England finished day four on 310/9 with Adil Rashid (30) and James Anderson (8) still on the crease.

India had declared their second innings on 520-7, with Virat Kohli (123) scoring his 23RD hundred. Already down 2-0 in the five-match series, Indian bowlers bowled their heart out in both the innings of the third test.

After surviving for 9 overs on day three, England lost both openers - Keaton Jennings (13) and Alastair Cook (17) – in a span of 2.1 overs in the morning session on day 4.

From 32-2, skipper Joe Root (13) and Olliver Pope (16) put on 30 runs for the third wicket and England crossed 50 in the 19th over. However, they never looked comfortable against Bumrah’s angular deliveries and eventually departed within five balls over the 25th and 26th overs.

After that, Jos Buttler (106) and Ben Stokes (62) provided stiff resistance and faint hope to the hosts with a record-breaking 169-run fifth wicket stand. However, India broke through with the second new ball to end the record-breaking partnership.

After Buttler’s fall, Jonny Bairstow, who came out to bat with a broken finger, followed him back to the pavilion after just one delivery. Last match’s centurion Chris Woakes (4) could also not hold up against mighty Bumrah.

After Woakes, Ben Stokes, who was playing very cautiously and hit his slowest Test fifty, got a pull shot on Pandya's well-guided missile wrong and gave an easy catch to KL Rahul. After his fall, it looked that the hosts would not be able to survive day 4 but Stuart Broad (20) and Adil Rashid fought hard. Rashid was dropped once and given out on a no ball.
