New Zealand won the toss and chose to bowl in the Hamilton ODI against India. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan got off to a decent start but they were hit by a lightning 'Boult'. Most specifically, by Trent Boult. The left-hander picked up 5/21 and ran through the Indian battign line-up. His fifth five-wicket haul was well supported by Colin de Grandhomme who picked up three wickets. Hardik Pandya was the top-scorer with 16 and a solid stand between Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal frustrated New Zealand but Todd Astle and James Neesham got the remaining wickets to bowl India out for 92. In response, Bhuvneshwar got the wickets of Martin Guptill (14) and Kane Williamson (11) but Ross Taylor and Henry Nicholls sealed a comprehensive eight-wicket win to earn a consolation win.
