South Africa reached 65 for two in their second innings at stumps after dismissing India for 209 on the second day of the first test at Cape Town.
At the draw of stumps, Hashim Amla (4) was at the crease and giving him company was Kagiso Rabada (2) as Proteas lead by 142 runs.
In reply to South Africa's 286, India's first innings folded for 209 on the second day of the first cricket Test in Cape Town.
Hardik Pandya scalped two wickets in the form of Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar.
Hardik Pandya also scored a strokeful 95-ball 93-run innings to emerge as the highest scorer for the visitors. He added 99 runs along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar (25) for the eighth wicket to keep India afloat in the match.
Hardik Pandya led India’s counter-attack against South African pacers and scored a blistering fifty. The star bowler was playing his natural game of hitting the loose ball out of the park and never looked under pressure.
Only 48 runs were scored off 25 overs during the first session in which Rohit Sharma (11, 59 balls) was trapped leg before by Kagiso Rabada after he did all the hard work during the first hour.
Starting from an overnight score of 28 for 3, Pujara and Rohit were ready to show patience and frustrate the opposition bowlers. They were content playing out deliveries and preserving wickets rather than scoring runs.
