Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli said the batsmen have let the team down again after the bowlers bowled out South African line twice in Centurion test. India lost the Centurion Test by 135-run loss.
The Centurion Test loss ended Virat Kohli’s nine-series winning streak as captain. The Centurion test loss also turned to first series loss for the Indian skipper.
Kohli while speaking at the post-match presentation said, “The bowlers did their job but the batsmen led the team down again.”
“We failed to get a good partnership and take lead in the both first and second game,” added Kohli.
India’s top five batsmen had failed to score at Newlands, which was a seamer-friendly pitch. In Centurion Kohli scored 153 runs but the next highest was 47 by Rohit Sharma.
Kohli asserted that South Africa dominated the Indian side from the beginning. “A a team, you win a match with collective effort. We tried but we were not good enough. South Africa was better than us in the series, especially in the fielding department, so they are the winners.”
