India shall be taking on Sri Lanka in the one off T20 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday. The match is scheduled to commence at 7 PM IST.
Sri Lanka would be looking to salvage some pride after being drubbed 5-0 by the Indians in the recently concluded ODI series. The Lankans have been on the backfoot right through the series at home, losing the Test series 3-0 and being whitewashed 5-0 in the ODIs by the Indians.
The Lankan think tank has made quite a few changes to their squad by roping in T20 specialists to reverse their fortunes. Isuru Udana, Seekkuge Prasanna, Suranga Lakmal, Vikum Sanjaya, Jeffrey Vandersay and Dasun Shanaka were roped in for the T20I and few of them could feature in the playing eleven. Among these players, Prasanna and Sanjaya featured in the T20I series against Bangladesh in April.
India and Sri Lanka have had contrasting fortunes in the T20 format over the last one year. While India has won 17 of the 25 matches played in the said period, the hosts have a dismal record losing 16 of the 24 matches. These include losses in the Asia Cup T20 that was held early last year along with their below-par display in the World T20 2016, in which their only win came against Afghanistan.
