Virat Kohli finally broke his century drought as he blasted his 42nd century and eighth against the West Indies as his record-breaking knock, in addition to Shreyas Iyer's attacking 71 helped India end on 279/7. Kohli sjared wonderful partnerships with Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer but the West Indies bowlers bowled well in patches as they looked to restrict the scoring. Kohli became the leading run-getter in ODIs against the West Indies but once both Kohli and Iyer departed, India struggled to end well in the death overs as West Indies struck at regular intervals. India's score of 279/7 is good on a wicket that is slowing down and it could offer the spinners some assistance. In response, Chris Gayle shattered Brian Lara's record of runs but fell cheaply. After a rain break reduced the game to 46 overs, Evin Lewis and Nicholas Pooran looked in good touch with Lewis scoring his sixth fifty. But, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took four wickets and West Indies' lower order were blown away as India won the match by 59 runs via DLS method to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

#22:11 hrs IST: OUT! Massive wicket for West Indies and they will have a sigh of relief as Kohli is gone here. It was a slower one from Brathwaite and Kohli looked to hoisk it across the line. The ball took a leading edge and finds the man at long off. End of brilliant innings. Kohli c Roach b Brathwaite 120(125)
#22:08 hrs IST: FOUR, FOUR and FOUR: Virat Kohli is on the roll here. Though a bit lucky in his third shot that almost kissed the gloves of keeper. Score after 41 overs: IND 225-3; Kohli 120(124); Shreyas Iyer 56(52)

18:32 hrs IST: India have chosen to bat against West Indies and they are unchanged. Virat Kohli says Rishabh Pant could bat at No.4 and Shreyas Iyer will bat at number five.
18:29 hrs IST: The pitch has a good grass covering and it is firm. It is a good surface where teams might be tempted to bat after winning the toss.
18:20 hrs IST: What will the team do once they win the toss? One would say bowl first and exploit the conditions. In the last ODI series played at home, West Indies held the World Cup winners England 2-2.
18:11 hrs IST: The ODI scenario is very interesting. For the next year or so, teams might focus more on T20s due to the 2020 World Cup. From 2021 onwards until the 2023 World Cup in India, ODIs might once again gain credence.
18:02 hrs IST: The No.4 debate will be huge for India. Will Virat Kohli chuck experimentation and give a batsman a long rope ahead of the World T20, 2020, which is the next major event? For T20Is, it seems to be Manish Pandey and in ODIs, it could be Shreyas Iyer.
17:55 hrs IST: Will India play two spinners or persist with the same team today? The pitch in Port of Spain assists both pace and spin and it will be interesting what the team composition for both sides will be.
17:41 hrs IST: All eyes will be on Gayle as he is seven runs away from breaking Brian Lara's record for most runs in ODIs. That it is happening in Trinidad, the home of Lara might not go down well with many Trinidadians but Gayle is a superstar in his own right in the Caribbean.
17:25 hrs IST: Hello and welcome to the second ODI between West Indies and India from Port of Spain in Trinidad. Firstly, the weather is absolutely fine and chances of rain are next to negligible. So, for all fans, the chances of a full match are very high.
