The high voltage Indian Premier League kicks off from April 4 but before that all eyes would be on the mega auction that shall be held on the January 28 and January 29.
With 578 players under the hammer, all teams would be looking to get the first shot at the players whom they deem to be game changers and get the best possible combination to battle it out for the coveted trophy in the upcoming season.
With the mega auction happening after three years, all the players have been thrown in the pool and it would be interesting to see as to who heads in which direction.
The set pattern would be broken as one would get to see new combinations made once the aggressive bidding for the T20 stalwarts comes to an end.
As per the list provided, 36 players are in all in Rs 2 crore bracket while 32 have priced themselves in the Rs 1.5 crore zone.
There are 31 in the Rs 1 crore category followed by 23 in the Rs 75 lakh and a whopping 122 in the Rs 50 lakh base price bracket respectively. There are 62 capped Indian players in the auction while the number of uncapped local players is 288.
While some of the big names of the IPL like David Warner, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been retained by their respective franchises, the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Chris Gayle, Glen Maxwell have been released by their teams into the auction pool.
Compared to Indians, the number of capped foreign internationals is 92 while 36 uncapped overseas talent have thrown their hat in the ring.
