Gujarat Lions opener Brendon McCullum proved on Tuesday that he means business after he was denied the prized catch of Chris Gayle as his floppy hat touched the boundary line during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Rajkot stadium.
McCullum managed to pull off a stunning catch on the boundary to dismiss Gayle. Initially McCullum and the Lions were overjoyed to have dismissed him before he had really got going on 38.
The third umpire was called in and the tall West Indian was given not out and asked to resume his batting that resulted in a 77-run knock off just 38 balls with the help of seven towering sixes. Gayle's innings proved vital as the Royal Challengers Bangalore amassed a huge 212-run total for the home team.
McCulum, who received praises from all corner for his sportsman spirit including opposition captain Virat Kohli, then got down to business when he came to bat as an opener. The New Zealander then played a power-packed Gayle-like innings of 72 runs off just 44 balls to keep his team's hopes alive.
However, his efforts proved to be futile as his team lost the important match.
Thanks for all the messages. Gd efforts from a couple of our youngsters @ishankishan23 & Basil Thampi tonight. Encouraging signs!

Incredible action. Great catch by @Bazmccullum but a six because of the edge of the cap! Who would have debated whether or not to wear one!
