Gujarat Lions shall be taking on Delhi Daredevils in an IPL encounter later on Wednesday evening at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. The match is scheduled to commence at 8 pm. When the two sides clashed earlier in the season at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi Daredevils chased down an imposing 205-run total courtesy batting heroics from their young turks Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant.
The two sides have met 3 times in the IPL with Delhi winning two of those games. Both Delhi and Gujarat placed at in the bottom half of the table are out of the playoff race so the clash is all about restoring honour and pride.
Gujarat Lions come into the game after chasing down an imposing 190 target against Punjab in their last game. Gujarat's batting is looking in good form with their skipper Suresh Raina spearheading their efforts with the willow. The Gujarat batting looks pretty formidable with Aaron Finch, Dinesh Karthik and Ravindra Jadeja in their ranks. They would need to tighten up things in their bowling which has been found wanting at the death under pressure.
Delhi would look to seek a complete turnaround in their performance after being humiliated by Mumbai in their last encounter. Delhi Daredevils would be missing the services of Proteas seamer Kagiso Rabada and allrounder Chris Morris who have joined the South African team in their preparations for the England tour.
Delhi could field in Aussie paceman Ben Hilfenhaus in place of Rabada. Meanwhile, they have quality all-rounders in Carlos Braithwaite and Corey Anderson who can fill in for Chris Morris. Delhi will also hope for a better batting performance from the likes of Karun Nair and Shreyas Iyer who have been disappointing by their high standards. Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant would look to end the tournament with a bang by making notable contributions with the bat.
So the bottom placed Gujarat Lions and Delhi Daredevils shall be engaged in a gripping encounter at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur shall look forward to step up their games and give their fans something to cheer about.
