Mumbai Indians registered a comfortable 9 run win against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Sunday cementing their position as table toppers in the Indian Premier League points table.
Batting first, the visitors post a challenging total of 173 thanks to brilliant half-centuries by Saurabh Tiwary (52) and Ambati Rayudu (63).
Chasing the target, the hosts suffered early jolt in the form Sunil Narine. However, Chris Lynn and captain Gautam Gambhir steadied the KKR ship with a 40-run partnership.
Mitchell Johnson then removed Gambhir and from there on, the visitors lost the momentum. KKR kept on losing wickets on regular interval thanks to a disciplined bowling by Mumbai Indian bowlers. Vinay Kumar took 3 wickets for the visitors.
