Earlier, Rising Pune Supergiant were given a positive start by their openers Rahul Tripathi and Ajinkya Rahane. However, the Mumbai Indians bowlers made a brilliant comeback in the match as Rising Pune Supergiant were able to score only 160 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Mumbai Indians spinners Karn Sharma and Harbhajan Singh weaved magic with their variations as they sent Pune on the backfoot. Jasprit Bumrah too played his part to perfection as he deceived the Pune batsmen with his slower balls and off-cutters.
Karn Sharma, who came in place of the injured Krunal Pandya took two wickets in the match and applied the initial brakes on the Pune innings. Harbhajan Singh took his 200th T20 wicket and Bumrah grabbed two as the Rising Pune Supergiant couldn't convert their start to a mammoth total. However, in the end, the Pune magic worked and they were able to maintain their dominance over Mumbai.
