IPL 2017: Shane Watson may open innings for RCB in absence of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli

Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson may take the responsibility of opening the innings along with explosive batsman Chris Gayle in the absence of stalwarts like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.

Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has given indications that he may open the innings for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2017 in the absence of star players Virat Kohli and K L Rahul. Chris Gayle will be the other opener and both the flamboyant players can form an explosive pair.

Watson said that he has always enjoyed opening the innings and performed well in that position throughout his career. He further claimed that he can bat at any position as per the team's interest.

KL Rahul will undergo surgery in London whereas RCB and Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been advised rest since hurting his shoulder in Ranchi Test match.

Watson further said that its a great opportunity for younger players like Mandeep Singh, Pawan Negi and others to prove their worth.

RCB has been one of the best teams of the tournament till date but has never won the coveted trophy. Fans will hope that their stars fire in this edition to earn their maiden triumph.
