New Delhi:

Rain delayed the start of day 4 between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. After the first session was completely washed out, Mohammed Shami removed Pat Cummins but Kuldeep Yadav was the star, taking 5/99 as India enforced the follow-on with a lead of 322. However, bad light and rain continued to stop play and after one hour, early stumps were declared. Earlier, Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant blasted centuries to help India reach 622/7 declared, their second-highest Test score in Australia. With this rain delay and India's high score, the chances of Australia securing a win have dimmed significantly. Virat Kohli's Indian cricket team are on the cusp of securing their first-ever Test series win in Australia, which will erase all the pains of previous overseas losses. (SCORECARD)

That is it. It is stumps. Too gloomy to play. The weather is slated to be the same tomorrow. Join us on the final day for what will be a mere formality as India wrap a historic series win.

More covers coming on as the rain comes. Lots of fans are leaving the ground. Chances of play now diminish even further.

There was supposed to have been play but we are still waiting. The floodlights are still on. According to an update from ESPNCricinfo, the umpires are in a big discussion with Kohli, Ravi Shastri. No idea on what will be the outcome in this situation.

There will be another inspection in about 10 minutes time. Maybe, we will then have a clue as to what is the status of the game.

The umpires have are out in the middle but early tea was taken. According to the situation in the ground, the conditions are much better.

The follow-on has been enforced and Australia will have to bat again. Can they run through the Australian batting for the second time or will the hosts put up a great fight?

Australia have reached 300, they still trail by 322 runs but the last wicket has really frustarted India. Had Hanuma Vihari taken the catch, Kohli would ahve easily enforced the follow-on. But, Kuldeep finally breaks the stand with his fifth wicket and India have a lead of 322. Will the follow-on be enforced?

Hazlewood and Starc are frustrating India as Bumrah and Kuldeep attempt to take the final wicket.

DROPPED! Hazlewood miscues the slog sweep but Kuldeep is denied the opportunity for five wickets as Hanuma Vihari drops him at midwicket. The bowler is not amused.

Kuldeep Yadav gets his fourth wicket as Nathan Lyon misses the sweep and is trapped in front for 0. Australia sinking quickly here and India on the cusp of enforcing the follow-on. Or will they?

WICKET! Bumrah joins in the fun. Back of a length ball angled in and it nips back in further off the seam, Handsomb is cramped for room as he looks to defend, the ball takes the inside edge on to the pad, the ball rolls back onto the stumps.

Peter Handscomb shows his class against spin as he uses his feet and crease brilliantly to Kuldeep Yadav. He employs the sweep and whips a flatter ball to the deep midwicket fence.

Mitchell Starc has started off aggressively by driving Bumrah to the long off fence. The bowler responds with a bouncer that goes well over keeper Rishabh Pant's head for five wides.

Mohammed Shami you beauty. Bowls a fullish ball which zips through low on off stump, Cummins is caught on the crease and the ball sneaks past his defence to knock the off stump out of the ground. Just the start India needed.

The Indian players are out warming up. Under overcast conditions, the new ball might just work the trick for India.

The covers are coming off and the umpires are getting ready for an inspection. Fingers crossed that the rain stays away.

The umpires have had an inspection but the covers are still firmly in place. It had stopped raining and the umpires had come out but once again, the rain is back.

Lunch will be taken at 7:00 AM IST, which is 12:30 PM Sydney time. So, the entire first session washed away with no signs of the rain abating, at least for now.

Still raining at the Sydney Cricket Ground and we might have an early lunch. The drizzle is now steady and more covers are on the way.

Do you think now Kohli should attempt to enforce the follow-on once the rain clears out or should India bat one more time?

We are in danger of losing the entire first session at the Sydney Cricket Ground. It is still raining. This might force Virat Kohli to impose the follow-on if India are to push for a win.

It is proper rain now and the covers are firmly back on at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Uh oh! The rain is back and the covers are coming back on. So, there is no chance of a 11 AM start. This is frustrating.

The rain has stopped and it has gotten a lot brighter. If there is no further rain, play will start at 5:30 AM IST or 11:00 AM Sydney time.

Hell and welcome to day 4 of the Sydney Test between India and Australia. It is a damp start to the day as rain and bad light have delayed the start of play. The entire square is covered and we are in for a long wait. Stay tuned for updates.
