The Australian openers gave a strong start to their team in the first innings and played the Indian bowlers at ease. Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have been unable to trouble David Warner and Matt Renshaw thus far. Australia came out on top as the first day's play ended and will look to take a massive lead in the first innings after bundling out India for 189 runs in the first innings.
LIVE MATCH SCOREBOARD, India vs Australia, Day 1
India's dismal batting performance continued as they failed to read Nathan Lyon's off-spinners and gave Australia early advantage in the match. None of the Indian batsmen were able to counter Lyon's guile as he grabbed 8 wickets to register his career best performance and the best performance by an Australian off-spinner.
The Indian batting fell like a pack of cards as no one apart from KL Rahul was able to offer any resistance. Whereas Rahul stod rock solid from one end and scored 90 runs, he was appalled to witness his teammates falling prey to the Australian bowlers, led by Nathan Lyon.
