Karun Nair hit a brilliant triple century at Chepauk in his debut series and became the only Indian after swashbuckling former opener Virender Sehwag to achieve the milestone. He scored 303 runs in 381 balls which included 32 fours and 4 sixes. The young batsman helped India post their highest Test score and formed useful partnerships with KL Rahul, Murali Vijay, R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

The day ended as England scored 12 runs without losing any wicket and will have to fight an uphill task to save the match.
Match Summary: Day 3
Indian team looks to wipe out the trail in first innings when they walk onto the field on Monday. At stumps on day 3, India were 391 for the loss of four wickets. Murali Vijay and Karun Nair remained unbeaten on Day 3.
So far, the most disappointing moment of the match was when Indian opener KL Rahul missed out on his first maiden test hundred as he got out on 199 runs. Indian team is batting brilliantly in the match after being provided a solid start to the innings by the openers KL Rahul and Parthiv Patel.
