Indian batsmen especially Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane destroyed the New Zealand bowling attack on the second day of Indore test match with their superb shot selection. Captain Kohli hit his second test match double century while Rahane made a brilliant 188 to put on a record partnership of 365 runs. Rohit Sharma then hit a half century before India declared its first innings and put in New Zealand to bat. The New Zealand openers Martin Guptill and Tom Latham then gave their team a solid start and managed to keep their wickets safe till the end of the day.
The day however belonged to Virat Kohli who played a captain's innings despite suffering from cramps. He also became the first Indian captain to score two double hundreds. The hosts continue to dominate New Zealand in the test series and have established a firm hold on the the third test too.
