At stumps on Day 1 of Chennai, England are decently placed as Moeen Ali is batting on 120. However, England lost its fourth wicket as JM Bairstow got out to Ravindra Jadeja. Earlier, Joe Root and Moeen Ali dug deep to take England out of trouble after the loss of early wickets.

Ravindra Jadeja gave India a much needed breatkthrough by claiming the wicket of Joe Root for 88 runs Earlier, Joe Root and Moeen Ali had led England fightback after losing two early wickets. Both the batsmen hit brilliant half centuries and tried to enhance England's position with the match. India had begun the match brilliantly as its bowlers made early strikes to rattle England.

India, the dominant team in the series till now, will look to continue its unbeaten streak to 4-0 in the series. India is on the cusp of creating various records. If they are able to win or draw the match, their unbeaten streak will continue to 18 straight Test matches. The Indian team seems to be in great form with both the batsmen and bowlers contributing to the team's victory run.

Earlier, India & England paid homage to former TN CM J Jayalalithaa by observing 2 minute silence along with wearing black bands before play began.

Talismanic cricketers, skipper Virat Kohli and all rounder Ravichandran Ashwin have single handedly taken away the match from the opposition's grasp on many recent occasions. 

Further, both of them can break many records in the Chennai Test.

All rounder Jayant Yadav has been rested due to injury and Amit Mishra will replace him in the match.
