New Delhi:

India secured a famous 31-run win in the Adelaide Test to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin were the stars with three wickets each but they had to encounter stiff resistance from the Australian tail, with Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood all putting up a great fight. This is India's second win in Adelaide, having won in 2003. This is their sixth win overall and this is the first time that they have won the first match of the series in Australia. India lead the four-match series 1-0 and will head into Perth full of confidence. (SCORECARD) (LIVE TV)

Eight runs come off Bumrah's over and Australia need 32 runs for a win and 31 to tie. This is epic.

Australia need 40 runs for a win. Lyon is on 36 and tea is approaching.

The last wicket pair is now frustrating India. Australia are really fighting it out.

WICKET! Cummins goes and India need only one wicket for a famous win. This is a monumental achievement for India. However, they have had to work very hard for it.

Lyon gets a vital boundary off Bumrah to reduce the target even further. Australia need 71 runs but India need just two wickets. This is the last solid batting pair for Australia with Josh Hazlewood being the only batting bunny.

Catch dropped by Pant! He could have had the record there. Lyon gets the outside edge and Pant dives to his right but grasses it.

Cummins keeps the fight going for Australia as he drills Shami to the deep extra cover fence for a boundary. Australia need 86 for a win, but one feels the game is India's as they need just two wickets.

WICKET! Finally, the stubborn partnership is broken. Shami floats this delivery full and wide outside off, Starc is lured by the drive and edges it to Pant, who now has his 11th catch in the match. This is a new record for India.

Australia now need less than 100. Starc and Cummins have ensured that India cannot celebrate just yet. Mind you, the Australian tail did much better than the top order in the first innings.

Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc are batting steadily and Australia need 106 more runs to win. A sting in the tail?

Starc and Cummins, notably Starc, is taking the attack to the opposition. This is a good tactic but one feels it has come too late for Australia.

WICKET! Tim Paine miscues the pull shot and is caught by Rishabh Pant. The wicketkeeper now has 10 catches in a match and it puts him in a special place. It is only a matter of time for India to seal a famous win.

That is lunch on the final day. The game is evenly poised. Australia need 137 more for a win. India need four wickets.

The second new ball has been taken. Big moment this for India. Australia have eight minutes to survive until the lunch break.

Pat Cummins has given Paine solid support but he is getting some treatment on his fingers after getting hit by a short ball from Mohammed Shami. Australia require just over 150 runs while India need four wickets. The new ball is due in the next over.

Action packed over from Ashwin. Kohli asks for a review after the ball beats Pat Cummins' outside edge. There is no edge and India lose a review. However, couple of balls later, Cummins pads it a ball to short leg and he is given out but gets it overturned successfully.

WICKET! What a massive blow for Australia. Bumrah gets a length ball to hold it's line outside off and Marsh has a feel for it, a faint edge is taken and he walks off without taking a review. It has been a solid knock for Marsh but one feels, it is all over for the hosts. Shaun Marsh c Pant b Bumrah 60.

Marsh and Paine are making smooth progress. Virat Kohli is rotating the bowlers around. India have to manage 11 overs before the new ball can be taken.

Ashwin and Shami are maintaining the pressure but Shaun Marsh continues to defy them. Slowly but surely, Australia are erasing the deficit.

Australia now need less than 200. They have scored runs at a decent pace but the main question is wickets. Can Tim Paine repeat his Dubai heroics? One thing is for certain, the draw is definitely out of the equation now. India's fielding has been a bit lax today.

WICKET! What a brute of a ball from Ishant. Travis Head goes and that is a massive blow for Australia. Coming round the wicket, Ishant gets the bouncer to climb up sharply from the deck, Head can only fend at it and the ball loops to Rahane at gully. India five wickets away.

A warm welcome to the fifth and final day of the Adelaide Test between India and Australia. It promises to be a thriller as India need six wickets for a glorious win while Australia need a further 216 runs to pull off one of the highest successful chases at this venue. Who will come out on top? 95 overs of riveting action await you.
